HISTORY
I AM VOICES was established as 501c3 2017. We initially began by hosting Sexual Assault 101 workshops, SEI camps, and community Sexual Violence awareness events. In 2019, we added the I AM VOICES group sessions. 2020 We added Box of Voices a program that has allowed us to meet the need of over 2300 girls, women, and families who has experienced sexual violence. In 2021, I AM VOICES opened the Blooming Bud Housing Program; TriCounty area, SC first transitional home dedicated to women who experienced human trafficking or sexual assault. To date I AM VOICES has successfully graduated over 36 women through this program. In 2022, I AM VOICES started the survivor-participant-led community garden Blooming Buds Flower Garden at the Miner Crosby Community Center. In 2023, The Blooming Buds Garden program made a new home in Fox bank plantation in Moncks Corner, SC, where fruits, herbs, flowers, and vegetables available to the community. This year more than 52 community members, volunteers, and participants came out to plant and celebrate growth and fellowship.
I AM VOICES has served over 300 girls and women through programs, trainings, group sessions, services, and workshops since its inception.
I AM VOICES has been featured in many publications such as The Post and Courier, ABC News, Channel 5 News, 1390 Radio Station, Bounce Around Charleston, News 2, The Voyager magazine, and more. I AM VOICES has also been the recipient of grants from Charleston Realtor Association, City of North Charleston, Volvo, Blackbaud, and many others.
