Founder & Executive Director | Healthcare Administration Executive | International Speaker | Seven-Time Author | Survivor Leader
Megan K. Manigault is an international nonprofit founder, healthcare administration executive, seven-time published author, speaker, project manager, and survivor leader committed to building systems that honor and uplift the voices of individuals and communities too often overlooked. As Founder and Executive Director of I AM VOICES, Inc., she combines lived experience with more than a decade of leadership in healthcare operations, clinical technology, program development, nonprofit management, advocacy, and organizational strategy.
Megan founded I AM VOICES in 2017 after recognizing critical gaps in the services available to survivors of sexual violence and sex trafficking—particularly survivors who needed more than an emergency response. Her lived experience gave her a personal understanding of the long-term effects of trauma, while her professional background equipped her to build an organization that moves survivors beyond crisis and toward safety, stability, healing, and independence. Under her leadership, I AM VOICES has grown into a survivor-led organization providing housing, case management, advocacy, healthcare connections, employment support, financial education, life-skills development, and other holistic services for women and youth.
Today, I AM VOICES operates three core programs. Red Rose provides transitional housing for survivors ages 18–26 through a structured nine-month cohort model. Yellow Sunflower provides housing and extended support for survivors ages 27 and older, while Blossom Supportive Services offers nonresidential and post-housing case management, emergency assistance, wellness support, employment preparation, and financial-literacy services. In 2026, all three programs earned Silver-Level Certification through the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office and Safe House Project certification process—an important recognition of the organization’s commitment to quality, safety, and survivor-centered care.
The organization’s impact reflects Megan’s ability to transform vision into measurable results. In 2025 alone, I AM VOICES served 289 individuals, provided 888 nights of safe housing, facilitated more than 2,000 case-management sessions, delivered more than 2,500 life-skills sessions, and distributed over 7,000 essential items. The residential program achieved an 80% graduation rate. Beyond these numbers are survivors who have secured employment, strengthened their financial stability, gained access to healthcare, continued their education, rebuilt support systems, and taken meaningful steps toward long-term independence.
Megan’s commitment to prevention and survivor empowerment also extends internationally. From 2018 to 2024, she developed and led I AM VOICES programming in Lagos, Nigeria. From 2018 to 2023, she directed Your Voice, Your Power, a school-based initiative that educated students about body safety, boundaries, consent, healthy relationships, self-advocacy, and human trafficking prevention. The program created space for young people to recognize unsafe situations, understand the value of their voices, access resources, and seek help without shame.
In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Megan has more than 13 years of experience in healthcare technology, clinical operations, and enterprise implementation. She has partnered with healthcare organizations across the country to implement clinical systems, redesign workflows, train multidisciplinary teams, manage organizational change, and improve operational performance. Her experience includes leading complex electronic health record implementations, assessing clinical and administrative workflows, developing training and adoption strategies, managing risks and dependencies, supporting go-live readiness, and translating executive vision into sustainable operational systems.
This healthcare background directly strengthens Megan’s leadership of I AM VOICES. She understands that trauma and instability can create significant barriers to medical care, behavioral healthcare, housing, employment, and long-term wellness. As Executive Director, she applies principles of quality improvement, performance measurement, compliance, workforce development, and population health to ensure that I AM VOICES provides more than compassionate services—it provides organized, accountable, and measurable pathways toward healing and stability.
Megan is also the Principal Consultant of MKM Consulting, where she helps organizations develop and strengthen programs, operational processes, implementation strategies, and sustainable systems. She is especially passionate about working with nonprofit leaders and mission-driven organizations to move ideas from vision to execution. Her approach combines strategic thinking, project management, process improvement, trauma-informed leadership, and practical experience building programs from the ground up.
As an international speaker, trainer, and facilitator, Megan has delivered keynotes, workshops, prevention programs, and professional training for schools, colleges, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, faith-based communities, and community groups. Her speaking topics include survivor leadership, trauma-informed organizational practices, healthcare access after trauma, youth empowerment, human trafficking prevention, nonprofit development, program implementation, and leading with purpose. As a TEDxCharleston speaker, Megan continues to use storytelling and education to challenge harmful systems, elevate survivor voices, and inspire meaningful action.
Megan is a seven-time published author whose work explores trauma, healing, gratitude, identity, and the power of reclaiming one’s voice. Her publications include Wilted Flowers Still Bloom, a trauma-education resource that helps readers better understand survivor experiences and trauma terminology, and Blooming Gratitude Journal: Revise the Seeds Planted, which encourages readers to intentionally create space for reflection and gratitude.
Her community leadership includes serving as Co-Chair of the Tri-County Human Trafficking Task Force Prevention and Education Subcommittee and contributing to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force, the Youth Homelessness Task Force, and the Sexual Assault Response Team. Through these roles, Megan helps strengthen prevention efforts, improve cross-sector collaboration, elevate survivor-informed practices, and advocate for more responsive community systems.
Megan holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Western Governors University, along with a Project Management Certificate from the University of South Carolina. She is credentialed in South Carolina as a Victim Service Provider specializing in both sexual assault and human trafficking and has completed additional training through the Human Trafficking Academy. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Healthcare Administration at the Medical University of South Carolina, further expanding her expertise in healthcare leadership, quality improvement, population health, and organizational performance.
Her leadership and community impact have been recognized through the 2025 ICON Award for Innovative Disruptor, the 2026 MLK Legacy Award, the YWCA’s 2023 What Women Bring recognition, and an official proclamation from the City of North Charleston naming December 10 “Megan Manigault Day.”
Whether she is leading I AM VOICES, implementing healthcare systems, developing a new program, mentoring emerging leaders, speaking to an audience, or advocating for survivors, Megan remains committed to changing systems that were never designed with survivors in mind—and building new ones that truly honor their voices.
Her personal motto, “You had a purpose before folks had an opinion,” reflects the belief that guides every part of her work: individuals should never be defined by what happened to them, and every person deserves the opportunity, resources, and support needed to live fully in their purpose.
