Believing survivors must be more than a statement. It should be reflected in the housing, services, partnerships, and opportunities our communities are willing to build.

“We believe survivors” is a powerful statement—but its greatest impact comes from what follows.

Belief looks like ensuring a survivor has somewhere safe to go. It looks like transportation to an appointment, access to healthcare, assistance navigating complex systems, and support while pursuing employment or education. It looks like respecting a survivor’s choices and remaining present after the immediate crisis has passed.

At I AM VOICES, we see what becomes possible when individuals, businesses, funders, volunteers, and community partners work together. One organization cannot meet every need alone, but a connected community can help close the gaps that too often leave survivors without options.

A donor may help sustain safe housing. A volunteer may strengthen an event or donation drive. A business may offer employment opportunities. A healthcare provider may improve access to trauma-informed care. A community leader may make an introduction that leads to a new partnership.

Each action strengthens the network around survivors.

Our work continues to grow because the need continues to exist. Survivors across our communities deserve access to safety and support regardless of age, income, background, or where they are in their healing journey. Meeting that need requires more than compassion. It requires commitment.
